SkyJewel is a cast and fabricated bronze sculpture with contemporary patina
I have created several hummingbird pieces, and each have a singular cast bronze hummingbird with a unique base and patina. I was inspired to create these pieces after a visit to Peru, where I saw many varieties of hummingbirds and learned that the native Peruvian word for Hummingbird was Q’inti. Hummingbirds were associated with gold and the sun and symbolic of a warrior’s spirit. I call my hummingbird pieces SkyJewel because every time I see a hummingbird I am amazed by their bright colors and iridescence. I strive to capture that feel in my bronze pieces.
