“The Philosopher” is my first sculpture created using a 3D sculpting program called Zbrush. The example shown here was printed in wax using a 3D printer capable of very high resolution prints. The wax was then used as the pattern for the silver casting. The traditional lost wax process was used to obtain these silver castings. Each is made to order, and the process takes approximately 2 weeks. Because the original piece was created in a digital format, the “file” exists without scale. Scale is defined on export. This means that this sculpture could be created in different sizes and materials.
